With a world wide reputation for delivering excellence, our client is a market leading manufacturer of pneumatic and hydraulic tubing, electrical cable and formed tube assemblies. Working with many businesses within the commercial vehicle industry, their service sets the industry standard. A new opportunity has arisen for a Purchasing Manager to join their team.
As the Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for developing the organisation\'s purchasing strategy with the aim of generating savings, rationalising the supply chain, and managing the Purchasing team. For this position our client is looking for an experienced candidate with a challenging and creative approach to play a key role.
In this role your main responsibilities will include all procurement and supply issues including planning, organising, and executing the purchasing strategy. You will also focus on reducing process costs through rationalisation of the supply chain by making use of the best technology and innovative contractual arrangements.
As the Purchasing Manager your duties will include:
- working with the team to monitor and evaluate purchase order requests
- supplier selection and management
- developing suppliers from low cost areas of the world, which will involve worldwide travel
- reviewing and developing the supplier base and sourcing new suppliers
- developing computer systems, introducing MRP techniques
To succeed in this role you must be an experienced Purchasing Manager who is CIPS qualified or working towards the qualification. A working knowledge of MRP is essential. You will also need sound knowledge of ISO / TS16949 procedures and strong IT skills.
With your excellent communication and people management skills, as the Purchasing Manager you will also need to be a flexible self-starter who has the ability to manage multiple projects, and who is confident negotiating and persuading suppliers.
